Dr Joe Alcock

Joe Alcock MD MSCR is practicing emergency physician and a professor in the University of New Mexico Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Alcock received his MD from University of California, Los Angeles in 1997. He completed residency in emergency medicine at the University of New Mexico and holds graduate degrees in clinical research from the University of New Mexico and neurobiology and behavior from Cornell University. In addition to his clinical practice at the busiest level 1 trauma center in New Mexico, Dr. Alcock teaches evolutionary biology to undergraduates and medical students. His research focuses on the evolutionary biology of sepsis and the effect of stress on the microbiome.
